BVI Emancipation Festival — Tortola, BVI
The BVI Emancipation Festival is the British Virgin Islands’ annual cultural celebration commemorating the abolition of slavery in the British colonies and honoring the history, heritage, and traditions of the Virgin Islands. Spanning late July through the first week of August, the festival brings the community together with vibrant music and dance performances, food fairs, pageants, sporting events, and a packed calendar of celebrations. The festivities culminate in the Grand Parade on Emancipation Monday (the first Monday in August)—one of the most anticipated highlights of the season.
