Sailing and Work Experience Malcolm is a highly experienced yacht captain with over 20 years in the superyacht industry, working across large sailing and motor yachts in permanent and relief command roles. Since 2002, he has held positions as Captain, Chief Officer, Chief Mate, OOW and race crew boss on yachts from 30m to 127m, including KORU, SILVER DREAM, SKY/TOTEM, MERAKI, ROSEHEARTY, SEA EAGLE II, SYBARIS, ELENA OF LONDON and ELEONORA. His experience spans new builds, refits, ISM implementation, vessel sales, commercial compliance, racing, worldwide cruising and deliveries. He has completed 26 Atlantic crossings, one Pacific crossing, and extensive cruising throughout the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Pacific, Australia, Northern Europe and South America. Job Description Malcolm is responsible for navigation, safety, and the overall management of the yacht, its crew and guests. He oversees the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, ensuring compliance with flag state regulations, class requirements and all applicable maritime legislation. He manages budgets, maintenance schedules, safety systems and crew performance while maintaining exceptional standards of guest service. He provides strong leadership, promotes teamwork and professional development, and ensures all onboard operations are conducted safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. Licences and Qualifications • MCA Master II/2 3000GT (Yacht) with Cayman CeC • ENG1 Medical Certificate (valid until August 2027) • TRANSAS and KELVIN HUGHES Type Specific ECDIS Certificates • Furuno ECDIS experience • ISM Auditor and DPA Course • Company Security Officer (CSO) • Ship Security Officer (SSO) • Dealing with Migrant Encounters • Cyber Security Training • Certificate in Superyacht New Builds – Maritime Training Academy
