Captain John-Paul “JP” Dunaway
USCG Master, Unlimited Tonnage • First-Class Pilot, Houston Ship Channel • Masters Upon Oceans
Texas-born and fourth-generation mariner, Captain JP grew up in a family of boat builders and seafarers. Entranced by his grandfather’s tales of far-flung voyages, he built his first “vessel” at eight—a raft inspired by Mark Twain. With a bedsheet sail sewn by his mother and a closet-rod mast stepped by his grandfather, JP learned early how tides, wind, and imagination can turn water into freedom. That spark set the course for a life less ordinary.
Today he holds the highest maritime credentials and has piloted more than 12,000 ships through some of the world’s most challenging and breathtaking waters. Fluent in three languages and seasoned by years spent living in the US & British Virgin Islands and Grenada, JP blends deep-water professionalism with island soul.
Step aboard Sea Dancer and you’ll find more than a captain—you’ll meet a natural teacher eager to share the art of sail trim, knot-tying, and the thrill of “tanker surfing” a ship’s wake. Whether paddle-boarding at sunrise, diving vibrant reefs, or finding zen on a foredeck yoga mat, Captain JP delights in revealing hidden Caribbean jewels and secret hideaways to every guest.
“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”
— Jacques Yves Cousteau
Chef Kendra Wilt
Chef Kendra is passionate about preparing delicious food and is experienced with entertaining guests rooted in her Latina background. Born and raised in Midwest Ohio, where her father is from, her Panamanian mother allowed her the space and grace to work in the kitchen at a very young age. Entertaining friends is a favorite activity, and pleasing people's palates is the goal. Kendra enjoys traveling, meeting new people, and discovering savory recipes from around the world. She is especially fond of Mediterranean cuisine, with healthy eating in mind. Previously, as a baker and young mother, Cake by Kendra made special occasion cakes for weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays. Especially memorable is making her favorite flourless chocolate cake covered in homemade dark chocolate fondant she made for a gluten-free bride and her daughter Natalia's quinceañera birthday. As a mother of a daughter with gluten allergies, Kendra has learned to prepare food catering to food allergies. Living in Panama, her mother's native country, for over seven years allowed her many opportunities to expand her palate from the Midwest to her Caribbean roots.
Kendra has a keen sense of taste to ensure her food is well seasoned and packed with flavor.Kendra loves everything sand & sea, and while on the boat, she can fulfill her dream of having a restaurant, only it is floating with special guests she can spoil for a week by providing nutritious and delicious meals. Her small town Ohio neighbors will remember Kendra for making her delectable Cinnamon Rolls to raise funds for her study trip to France. She is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, and can communicate in French. She loves outdoor activities, from hiking, cycling, swimming, snorkeling, and especially stand up paddle boarding (SUP). Kendra is well-rounded and studied, holding her B.A. in Latin American and Caribbean Studies with Business from Florida State University, her Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from American College, and, most recently, obtaining her M.A. in Teaching from Marian University. Now, she is excited to be chartering out of the beautiful Grenadines, as Grenada is her great-grandparents' country of origin, known as the Spice Island, and for its chocolate.
Chef Wanda Flannagan
Chef onboard Jan 10,2026 - March 2026
A proud Texan with deep hospitality roots, Chef Wanda Flannagan brings heart, heritage, and bold flavor to every dish she creates. Her passion for food runs generations deep — inspired by her grandmother, a professional waitress, and her father, a Navy chef.
Wanda began her professional journey in education, attending college in the Permian Basin on a swimming scholarship — an early sign of the discipline, drive, and team spirit she now brings to the galley. But it was her grandmother’s encouragement that led her to bartender school and ultimately into the vibrant world of fine dining.
Over the years, Wanda has built a diverse culinary career, working in upscale restaurants, teaching gourmet cooking classes and wine pairings, and mastering both kitchen and bar. Her cooking style blends bold Texas flavors with fresh Mediterranean influences, and she’s especially known for her indulgent desserts — particularly her decadent cheesecakes and anything made with rich, nutty brown butter.
Chef Wanda’s menus reflect not just skill, but soul — each meal served with warmth, intention, and a genuine love for sharing exceptional food and drink with others. Whether she’s crafting a cocktail or plating a five-star dish, she’s all about flavor, connection, and unforgettable hospitality.

Guest Testimonials
August 2025
We decided on taking one more family getaway before the Summer draws to a close. We just didn’t know exactly what to do. We already traveled quite a bit over the past two months, but some things opened up on our calendar and we said why not.
We started looking around Social Media and consulted our old friend Google, and that’s when we stumbled across the idea of a private, week-long, Caribbean Charter. Following a bit of research, we discovered Sea Dancer. Looking back now, after a solid week of sailing the Grenadines with my wife, our two kids, and my mother-in-law, I can say it was a fantastic decision.
Sea Dancer is a great-sized Catamaran in very good condition. There was plenty of room aboard to share company and even find quiet alone time as well. Captain JP and Chef Natalia helped make our first time aboard a live-onboard charter wonderful.
It’s not the same as staying at a luxury resort on some island which is what we are used to. It is, however, a wonderful option for something truly different. You get to experience the Caribbean from a whole new perspective.
Sailing from island to island, relaxing under star filled skies at night, experiencing sunrises and sunsets from new anchor and mooring spots each day … let’s just say the entire family had a great time.
Respectfully,

We sailed with Captain John Paul and Chef Kendra through the Windward Islands and had an unforgettable journey.
Captain John Paul is a world-class sailor with excellent knowledge of sailing and navigation. We felt completely safe in his hands, and he shared his expertise in such a way that made the trip both educational and relaxing.
The Sea Dancer itself is a beautiful yacht-well-maintained, spacious, and very comfortable.
Chef Kendra prepared outstanding meals, always beautifully presented, from banana chocolate chip pancakes to tuna nachos and freshly baked bread. Her creativity and attention to detail made every meal a delight.
Beyond the meals, Chef Kendra was always warm and welcoming, providing snacks and refreshments whenever w e asked.
We visited stunning islands and quaint villages throughout the Grenadines, and each stop felt like a hidden treasure. Captain John Paul gave us excellent recommendations for dining, drinks, and local entertainment ashore, enhancing our entire experience.
The accommodations on board were comfortable, with wonderful amenities that made us feel right at home. Between lounging in the sun, enjoying fabulous meals, and exploring beautiful destinations, the Sea Dancer provided exactly the vacation we were hoping for.
We highly recommend this cruise— it was a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and luxury.
"Our week aboard the Sea Dancer was the perfect balance of adventure, relaxation, and luxury. Captain John Paul' s expertise and Chef Kendra' s incredible meals made this the sailing trip of a lifetime!"

Our time aboard *Sea Dancer* was nothing short of extraordinary. From the very first moment, we were welcomed with warmth, delicious food, refreshing drinks, and lively conversation that set the tone for the entire journey.
Captain JP is a seasoned sailor whose skill and knowledge gave us complete confidence on the water. Beyond that, he was an attentive and thoughtful guide —taking us to a secluded spot where we watched sea turtles swimming right from the boat, leading us on snorkeling adventures filled with colorful fish and historic sites, and showing us hidden island bars and restaurants we never would have discovered on our own. One of the absolute highlights was the magical lobster dinner he arranged for us on the beach-an evening we'll never forget.
Chef Kendra elevated the trip with her incredible cooking. From perfectly prepared eggs Benedict to fresh fish tacos, every meal was memorable. One evening, she and Captain JP teamed up to prepare a grilled dinner on board that was simply outstanding.
Our stateroom and private bath were spacious, comfortable, and had more than enough storage for everything we brought-though with swimsuits and shorts as our daily uniform, we found we needed very little.
This trip gave us an entirely new perspective on the Caribbean and sailing life. We cannot recommend
*Sea Dancer* highly enough, and we are already dreaming about when we can return to repeat this unforgettable adventure.

It's hard to put into words just how incredible our adventure on the Sea Dancer was
from start to finish. From the moment we stepped aboard, the good vibes flowed with
delicious food, refreshing drinks, and plenty of laughter.
Captain JP is the ultimate captain-skilled, dependable, and full of fun! He knew
exactly where to take us for unforgettable experiences. We spotted sea turtles
swimming right alongside the boat, snorkeled in crystal-clear waters filled with colorful
fish, and even explored historic sites beneath the waves. On land, he guided us to
hidden island gems, from lively little bars to authentic local restaurants. The highlight?
A dreamy lobster dinner on the beach that felt absolutely magical!
Chef Kendra worked her own kind of magic in the galley, treating us to meals that
ranged from perfect eggs Benedict in the morning to the most flavorful fish tacos by
day. One evening, she and Captain JP teamed up on the grill and created a feast that
we're still talking about.
Our stateroom with its private bath was super comfortable and had plenty of space for
the essentials (let's be honest-mostly shorts and swimsuits). The boat itself was
fantastic for lounging, napping, or just soaking up the sun and sea breeze.
We can't recommend this nautical escape enough-it was pure joy from beginning to
end! We'd jump at the chance to sail away on the Sea Dancer again in a heartbeat.

Our party of six friends sailed with Captain JD Dunaway and Chef Mate Kendra on the Sea Dancer in April. We had a wonderful and memorable adventure! The boat is beautiful, our itinerary gorgeous and the good time together the best. Captain Paul knew the waters and islands well. Chef Mate Kendra prepared fabulous meals with the freshest of ingredients.
There were also plenty of water toys and lovely ports.
Your Sea Dancer adventure awaits you!
