Meet our Crew
Kevin, or KDog as he's known to family and friends, enjoys entertaining guests and ensuring they have a fabulous experience aboard Sun Goddess. Every day brings an opportunity for new experiences. Guests appreciate his guidance and assistance fitting their snorkel gear, helping them feel comfortable with snorkeling - many for the first time. He often snorkels with the guests, guiding them to the best spots and pointing out turtles, fish and various aquatic life. He's also the "Coordinator of Fun" setting out couch floats and chairs, paddle boards,pulling guests in the tube behind the dinghy, hanging up the hammock for guests to lounge in, and making arrangements on the bow for guests to enjoy sleeping under the clear star-filled sky. Kevin loves history and can often be found readingabout events that took place hundreds of years ago in the Caribbean islands. He imagines how difficult it was for sailors before engines, charts and GPS were available, and delights in entertaining guests with pirate stories! Captain KDog looks forward to sharing his adventurous nature with you, and who knows, you might just find a buried treasure!
Cheryl has a passion for hosting family, friends and guests, and what better place than the spectacular, crystal blue waters of the Caribbean! She was rated as a Super Host for their Virginia Beach Airbnb home and has transferred her knack for details to hosting guests aboard Sun Goddess. While living in Virginia, she started a small catering company which gave her an additional outlet to showcase her love of cooking and entertaining. During the Summer 2024 break, Cheryl studied with author and culinary educator Sara Ciliberto of "The Unexpected Kitchen" fame, and looks forward to preparing some scrumptious new recipes for guests! Whether you're planning a vacation to celebrate a special event or a relaxing island get-away from work, Cheryl welcomes the opportunity to feed your soul with delicious meals and make your trip aboard Sun Goddess a memorable one.

December 4-9, 2025
We flew into Tortola and met Captain Kevin at the airport. Despite our toting along oversized suitcases, he greeted us warmly. Pro tip: Don’t overpack and bring soft, easy to stow luggage.
Onboard the gorgeous yacht, we met Kevin’s wife, Captain Cheryl. Not only are they both certified captains, but Cheryl is also an incredible chef. She prepared delicious food and cocktails daily and took great care to meet our preferences. I enjoyed her signature banana bread and fresh fruit while sipping coffee and doing my Wordle puzzle daily from the salon. Waking to the view of the incredibly crystal clear water and sun shine every day was pure relaxation.
We sailed the catamaran to different islands each day. I loved sitting on the bow and the fly bridge to catch the fantastic views while traveling. After mooring in each harbor, Kevin expertly whisked us on and off the islands with their dinghy. We explored the land on Virgin Gorda with an open air jeep and saw Anegada via a Moke. We experienced Jost Van Dyke’s famous beach front bars, and Norman Island where I actually swam with a sea turtle.
Cheryl and Kevin are wonderful guides and truly want their guests to have a magical experience. This was a trip of a lifetime that should be done more than once!
November 20-24, 2025
The crew and I had the most incredible experience aboard Sun Goddess! We spent our days sailing through the breathtaking British Virgin Islands hopping from island to island, soaking up the sun, salt and beautiful views.
Out captains, Kevin and Cheryl, guided us to the most vibrant reefs and secluded beaches, while treating us to fresh, delicious meals right on board. It was truly the adventure of a lifetime.

Was not expecting such an awesome trip. We throughly enjoyed an amazing trip from St. Maarten to Trinidad. Our captains were wonderful, professional and caring. I got to see things I would have never seen in my lifetime. Experience different cultures and places, Carnival was fun. We had such a good time. Captain / Chef Cheryl's cooking was absolutely awesome. Everything was made from scratch. Be careful of the creme brulee, it's addicting. Or she'll probably just have some home made cookies lying around, there's always little treats somewhere. The trip was magnificent. We went snorkeling, fishing and exploring on the Islands. It's unbelievable the amount of history alone that you can learn.
They knew right where to put us in every little quaint spot on every island we ventured to. We even caught Mahi Mahi off the back of the boat. You're not going to get any fresher than that. If you're looking to get away and enjoy every second, watch a breathtaking sunset every evening, (rekindle that flame), paddle boarding or floating on a noodle, or just taking in some Sun on deck. THIS IS IT!!!!

We had such an amazing family vacation aboard Sun Goddess! Captains KDog and Cheryl far exceeded our expectations. They were very attentive to our 3 kids, ensuring they were entertained with various activities each day - fishing, snorkeling, tubing and kneeboarding were favorites. We also enjoyed special time together as a family floating on the rafts and noodles and playing games. Chef Cheryl graciously allowed our 6-year old to assist her in the galley preparing some meals, and we were blown away by the quality of food and presentation - wow! We loved the itinerary they prepared for us and enjoyed the variety and uniqueness of each island. Best family vacation ever!
April 5-12, 2025
What a remarkable vacation in the British Virgin Islands! My wife, our 13-year-old son, and I had a wonderfully relaxing week aboard the 53-foot Sun Goddess catamaran, hosted by our exceptional captains, Cheryl and Kevin. Although these trips are typically planned months in advance, we made a last-minute decision to book this one. Cheryl facilitated the process with her quick responses, efficient planning, and straightforward contracting. Impressively, she even secured a fishing license for us in just a few days, which is not always an easy task.
The Sun Goddess proved to be a spacious and comfortable catamaran, fully equipped for both enjoyment and relaxation. Cheryl's culinary skills were outstanding, providing us with delicious meals throughout our journey. Each dish was customized to our tastes, and Cheryl consistently sought our feedback to enhance our experience. If you have the chance, be sure to request her homemade banana bread, it's simply fantastic!
While Cheryl expertly managed the galley, Kevin took charge of our daily entertainment and activities. Each day featured one or two excellent snorkeling spots, and once we were moored for the evening, Kevin would bring out various water toys for us to enjoy. We had a great time with the paddle boards, floating island, deck chairs, and the hammock that was always set up at the bow of the boat each night. To add to the excitement, Kevin had a knee board that he towed behind his well-equipped dinghy, which my son absolutely adored. Naturally, I had to give it a try myself to ensure it was safe! 😉
Our journey started in Tortola, where we arrived at Beef Island. We had a delightful time in Virgin Gorda, where my son took his inaugural e-foil lesson based on Cheryl’s suggestion, and he thoroughly enjoyed the experience. That evening, we relaxed with drinks and played pool at Saba Rock. Following that, we spent a day in Anegada, where we went snorkeling and savored a lobster dinner at the Wonky Dog before heading back to Virgin Gorda to explore the Baths, timing our visit to avoid any cruise ships in port. We then dedicated a day to Peter Island before proceeding to Norman Island, where we had the unique experience of visiting Willy T’s… and, naturally, we took the plunge! Subsequently, we traveled to Jost Van Dyke for a brief stop at the Soggy Dollar and Foxy’s before returning to Beef Island for our journey home. Overall, it was an exceptional trip filled with wonderful company, delicious cuisine, and a fantastic atmosphere.

Our family, boys ages 13 and 16, just returned from the most wonderful and perfect trip on board the 53ft Sun Goddess catamaran with our captains Cheryl Simmons and Kevin! Cheryl and Kevin shared their gorgeous boat and experience with us, making us feel like family every day. Cheryl made us the most delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert every day - each meal was a new favorite for the boys! The food was just perfect. I am home craving her key lime bars!

For our family with adventurous teenage boys! Kevin was always up for a snorkel in the most beautiful spots, he had a line in the water to fish anytime, he taught our boys to knee board, and had all the water toys out every time we stopped! We so enjoyed the floating chairs, floating island, paddle boards, and on deck chairs and hammock! Kevin even jumped from the Willy T with the boys.
Cheryl arranged a great day on Anegada for us with scooters and a lobster dinner at Wonky Dog. We had so much fun using our scooters to explore the island! We spent much of the day at Tipsy’s - amazing!
The next day we sailed to Virgin Gorda where Cheryl had arranged for e-foil lessons for the boys! They had so much fun! There was so much to do, we spent two nights! We snorkled, went to the Baths (on a day Cheryl chose with no cruise ships), pirate show in Leverick, and some relaxing!
We loved Cooper island with the rum distillery and gorgeous mooring area. So peaceful and beautiful!
We called an audible and spent the last two nights at Norman Island. The cove was just so beautiful with crystal clear water, we couldn’t leave. Kevin led us around some amazing snorkeling, we visited the Willy T, and took full advantage of floating in the water!
We will forever consider Kevin and Cheryl our family as they took such good care of us on our adventure. They were both so kind and fun with our boys, getting to know them and laughing with them.

BVI perfection delivered by the gods: Cheryl & Kevin are hospitality through and through. Meals, cocktails, fishing, water activity, and everything in between was perfect! They flex as needed to accommodate weather or changes in needs. The boat is WAY better in person compared to photos online. Clean and well appointed and maintained. Highly recommend for anyone looking at 4-6 people for a cruise.

Let me just start by saying Cheryl and Kevin are amazing hosts and charter owner / operators. The initial booking of the trip was made so easy by Cheryl‘s prompt replies to all of the inquiries that I sent her. Most people will plan a year or further in advance to do a charter trip but we had a last-minute break in our schedule and Cheryl was able to squeeze us in and have everything planned and contracted within just a few days.
Chartering a catamaran in the BVI is my absolute favorite vacation and it was made even better by Cheryl and Kevin! Their catamaran, Sun Goddess, is an amazing and comfortable, well stocked and provisioned home away from home. You cannot beat Cheryl‘s abilities in the kitchen either! Not only were her meals the perfect flavor of the day but she also spent over three hours baking me a birthday cake from scratch!
One thing I do advise anyone that wants to charter in the Caribbean is to start your trip from Tortola and not from the US Virgin Islands. I am a fan of Soggy Dollar Bar, Willy T’s and of course you have to make the trip out to Anegada for a lobster meal on the beach! Also plan to make a trip to Tipsy’s if you are heading to Anegada for the day.

Wowee!!! We just got back from the trip of a lifetime!!! I don't think I've ever been on a trip where I felt so cared for by our hosts. Cheryl and Kevin (KDog) our hosts and captains went above and beyond to create a very special and unique experience for our whole group. We enjoyed so many incredible meals, homemade by Cheryl and perfectly timed to accommodate all our adventures. I even got a a birthday cake, shaped as a sand castle! Kevin kept us entertained, telling stories, shuttling us in the dinghy and recommending the best snorkel spots. Did I mention their attention to detail? They made sure the boat was always parked in the prime spots, secured scuba diving trips, made reservations at the best restaurants, and even tailered our shore excursions to miss the cruise ship crowds. My brother proposed to his girlfriend while we were there and Cheryl made sure we had champagne to celebrate, secretly packing it away to enjoy on shore. We can't wait to sail on the Sun Goddess again. We felt like we were home away from home. The catamaran itself was immaculately cleaned, maintained and cared for. It was stocked so many fun things to do! Kevin was always shuffling SUP boards, floaties, snorkel gear, and making sure we had a beverage in hand. Our rooms were cozy with comfy sheets and beds. The living spaces were roomy, tastefully decorated and well stocked will everything we needed. We wanted for nothing on this vacation, except for more days on board. Make sure to request Cheryl's Pain Killer cocktail and lemon custard dessert while sailing with them, you won't be disappointed.

Cheryl and K Dog are such fantastic hosts. Personable, funny and so accommodating.
Cheryl thinks of every single detail like reservations and trip itineraries which made it so much easier to just relax and enjoy our vacation.
K Dog was always more than willing to shuttle us on the dinghy to wherever our hearts desired.
We had a birthday and an engagement while on this trip and our hosts went above and beyond to make it truly special.
I can’t recommend Sun Goddess enough.

This was a fantastic week! The weather, the crew (Kevin & Cheryl are amazing!), the islands, the beaches, the yacht, and I could go on! It was a true week of relaxation, laughing and enjoying friends and family. The yacht was roomy and spotlessly clean at all times. The food Cheryl made was delicious, and Kevin will serenade you! The ocean is blue, warm and clear. You can paddle board, swim, float, snorkel or just stay on the boat and relax. Cheryl makes THE most incredible painkiller - super good!

We went out for a day sail aboard Sun Goddess last year when visiting St. John, and it was the highlight of our trip, so we booked a day trip with Captains Cheryl & Kevin again this year. The beach at Maho Bay was amazing, and the snorkeling at Waterlemon Bay was quite good. Kevin led us snorkeling, and we saw blue tang, puffer fish, turtles, rays, elkhorn coral, sea fans, and a big starfish on the ocean floor. It was spectacular! After snorkeling, we returned to the boat and Cheryl served a delicious lunch of Mediterranean pasta salad, grilled chicken and warm pita bread. Cheryl & Kevin are such excellent hosts and we highly recommend them. We have never been to the BVI, so are planning a week-long trip with them this Spring!

We spent 4 days at a Tortola resort, and then had THE BEST time sailing aboard Sun Goddess for 4 days! Captains Cheryl & Kevin were really on top of the weather situation with high winds and choppy seas. We were thankful that they knew safe harbors for us to spend the night and we had such a great time on our 3 nights aboard. Watching the NFL games on their TV was an added bonus. First stop was Norman Island (Willy T was crazy), second night was Jost Van Dyke (went to Soggy Dollar and Foxy's - our favorite), then spent the third night at Cane Garden Bay (loved the beach, paddle boarding, turtles and dolphin!). Highly recommend for a fantastic crew, yacht and meals! And maybe one or two too many Pain Killers:)

Kevin and Cheryl were such great hosts for our day charter around St. John. We had the best time sailing and just chilling out on Sun Goddess. We went to Little Lameshur Bay and it was such a perfect setting that we never wanted to leave. We snorkeled, had a tasty lunch, cocktails along the way, and truly enjoyed just being aboard. We're looking forward to coming back for an extended charter aboard Sun Goddess with some family members soon!

Such a wonderful, relaxing day SAILING!! That was our main goal just to be out on the water with full sails for this trip. Stop at Sandy Cay was awesome. Lunch was great, the weather was perfect, and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Captains Cheryl & Kevin. Highly recommend!

Cheryl & Kevin were amazing hosts in every way. Both of them were extremely knowledgeable about St. Thomas and St. John and the surrounding islands. They were skilled captains and very hospitable. A highlight was Cheryl treating us to an amazing steak dinner as we overlooked Maho Bay and KDog rounded out our trip with a guided snorkel tour of the small reef and wildlife at Caneel Bay. Overall, our trip was fantastic! Sun Goddess is a beautiful yacht and we truly felt welcome to make the place our home. No words do this place justice. Can't express enough how wonderful Cheryl, KDog and the Sun Goddess are. We look forward to booking with them again in the future!
